Who will lead CASSW next? Nominations open for President-Elect

Dear CASSW Members and Friends,

My term as President ends in December of 2027. One of the most important things I can do before then is help bring in the person who will lead CASSW next. That's why I'm asking you to consider the President-Elect seat, or to think of a colleague who belongs in it.

This Board has laid a strong foundation built on collective and shared leadership. The President-Elect will carry that work forward with a vision of their own.

How it works: You spend 2027 learning how CASSW runs alongside the current President. You then serve as President in 2028–2029 and as Past President in 2030. You won't be stepping in cold. You'll have a full year to learn the budget, Board operations, committees and partnerships before you lead.

What you'll do:

  • Learn how the Association works, from the budget to our partnerships

  • Support the President's strategic initiatives and step in when needed

  • Meet the agencies and organizations we partner with

  • Build your vision and agenda for your 2028–2029 presidency

  • Network nationally with school social workers from other states

You'd be a great fit if you have led teams, programs or committees (or are ready to grow into that), think big-picture about the future of our profession, and lead in a collaborative way.

Time: About 10–12 hours a month as President-Elect, beyond Board meetings. This grows to 20–25 hours a month as President.

What you'll gain: Mentorship from a sitting President, a statewide network, visibility with state agencies and PPS partner organizations, and real nonprofit governance experience.

Please take one of these steps:

  1. Nominate yourself or someone you know using the nomination form by November 1, 2026.

  2. Forward this email to a colleague you've watched lead and thought, "They should be running this."

The next leader of CASSW is out there. It might be you. I would be glad to talk with anyone considering this role. Reach me at president@cassw.net.

In Community,

Cristina
